Last Minute Thanksgiving Day Outfit

Can you believe Thanksgiving is this week? Time has been moving so quickly. If you’re like me and the holiday really just snuck up on you. You might be scrambling for something to wear. It seems a little absurd to just sit in the living room but most us like to dress up for this day. It makes it feel special. ya know?

I created this last minute Thanksgiving Day outfit to work whether your family festivities require a formal or casual dress code. You’ll be able to accessorize accordingly. A long black dress with a bit of stretch is perfect for this day. It’ll keep you warm, looking great & comfortable. I’ve picked out a few options that can be bought in store if you scroll all the way down.

It’s coat season. Trench coats are one of the easiest ways to elevate a look. You all know I live by this saying which is why I like to invest in quality coats. This particular coat is by Reformation and is amazing. I’ve had it for about 2 years now and I never see myself getting rid of it.

To tie everything together I decided on green accessories. It really pops against the black of the dress and the camel of the coat. I usually like to pair 3 colors in my outfit if I’m not doing a monochromatic look. It’s my method and always helps keep my outfits balanced and chic. If you guys would like more insight into my “styling methods”  just leave a <3 in the comments.

Chic Long Black Dress

Blush Accents

It’s June and I’m wondering how this year seems to keep speeding by. First, hi. Second, I’ve been gone awhile and I apologize but a post going up Monday will give more details on where I’ve been. That’s out of the way so can I please rant about this New England weather?! My head spins every day putting together an outfit with the inconsistent whims of Mother Nature. As of late, I’ve been leaning towards really, really easy daytime looks because they require little effort and time. I love this co-ord set I picked up from Asos because it falls into that easy category plus the colors are perfect for this time of year. Blush is always my favorite color especially in the warmer months, get used to seeing it a lot.

Co-ord sets are great for creating a stylish look when short on time or effort. I tend to really love the ones from Asos and Missguided for affordable options, you can also shop a few from my closet on Poshmark. Chains have always been my preference over more statement type necklaces and I literally cannot stop wearing them in this layered style. I love that name chains are trendy again even if I’ve never stopped wearing mine since high school.  Just one more thing because I must mention this fab clutch. It’s my idea of a perfect clutch down to the hints of blush which I picked up a few months ago from & Other Stories. That brand has stolen a little piece of my heart. I can’t wait to share more with you all on Monday.

The Jumpsuit

The jumpsuit, it’s the one thing that will always remain a staple in my closet. It’s a versatile item that can transition from scene to scene.

When I saw this jumpsuit while browsing my favorite online shops I had to get it. It’s so comfortable I didn’t want to take it off and the price was nice. That’s the great thing about jumpsuits is you can score a stylish one at a range of prices. Doing a high-end look that looks expensive but isn’t becomes easy. Pairing it with black suede d’Orsay pumps ups the luxury for less and the outfit feels timeless. I swear this jumpsuit looks more expensive than my designer coat and shoes. I think it’ is the satin material that is doing the trick.

Satin just has a quality that screams LUXURIOUS! In all honesty, that is what flashes in my mind when I think of satin.Lately, I really have been loving satin and silk everything. Literally, I replaced all my pajamas with silk ones and my bedding to satin. I have to say it feels damn good on my skin.

Let me know if you have any current obsessions lately!

1. Identify your foundation items

The key to anything in life is a good foundation. The same holds true for your closet. If you’re typically short on time, you need pieces that can be versatile and give your outfits structure.

These are going to be pieces like deep washed denim, a structured blazer or a white v neck shirt that you are able to build an outfit around.

Foundation item: my H&M denim
2. Choose a subtle statement piece

These are the items that are going to add some depth and interest. These are also the pieces that will let your personal style show through.

A subtle statement piece is my Asos sweater because it has these really gorgeous bell shaped sleeves in a beautiful rustic red. It grabs your attention without being overpowering which is perfect for an everyday look.

3. Frame your face

This is probably my favorite tip because it’s a small tweak that can make such a huge difference. When short on time I suggest throwing on earrings. It’s an easy way to accessorize and helps to frame your face.

Framing your face with earrings or a hairstyle immediately makes you look more put together and stylish. I went for a simple pair of gold hoop earrings that really complement my hair and skin tone.

I hope you all found this helpful! I guarantee if you practice you’ll be able to be stylish in your sleep or at least 10 minutes.

Royal Hue | A Summer Party Look

Ask and you shall receive. You all really loved the last “party style/going out” look I did. So, today you get another one. I love the royal hue of this jumpsuit and that it can be appropriate for so many occasions, from a celebratory dinner to an evening party. This look can even work well for a Labor Day party if you don’t mind doing a royal hue over white. It also shows the perfect amount of skin and degree of sexiness. I opted for my hair pulled up as lately I’ve been loving up-dos. I decided to forgo a clutch because the jumpsuit has pockets perfect for fitting a gloss and my ID. Let me know if you would like to see more of these type of looks. Happy Hump Day!

Summer Garden

Happy Monday!! I’m so excited that it’s the beginning of a new week, it means we all have a clean slate. So, put what happened last week or this weekend aside and focus on finding those hidden treasures in life. Speaking of hidden treasures I came across this secret summer garden ( at least it felt that way in my head!) while exploring my ‘hood this weekend. I didn’t go beyond the white picket fence because I didn’t want to trespass and then have to run for my life from a tiny old man with a shotgun. Okay, okay that may just be my imagination running wild but any who the sidewalk served as the perfect backdrop for my look.

I love linen even though it wrinkles so easily ! I swear I ironed this top before I left the house but after a few hours of being in it, the wrinkles returned. I tend to opt for white and gray when I’m having a case of ” I have nothing to wear” which is never really true. This really was a great look for taking a stroll thru a summer garden or a lunch date or the mailbox (nothing wrong with looking chic while checking the mail). The only slightly bad news I have is that this top is no longer available but I listed some similar options below. Not to mention the shorts are on sale! Happy shopping and let me know if you got anything over the tax free weekend.

Coffee & Cream

There are some things that should always be a staple piece in a woman’s closet, for the summer season my must have is a simple white maxi. A simple dress can make a powerful statement when you walk in a room especially if accessorized nicely and carried with confidence. I have developed quite the obsession with hats during the fall that has carried over into being another summer staple in my wardrobe. I paired two of my staples, the dress and hat, and added one of my fave trends, the arm cuff/bracelet to create a simple yet chic summer outfit. I was having lunch with my cousin and then taking a stroll around the city, I chose a shoe with a small wedge heel that was simple and comfortable but still kept the look polished. Let me know your thought below.

p.s. Thank you to my cousin for being my substitute photographer, my brother who is usually behind the camera broke his thumb 🙁

OTR Look: Rock & Glam

018 022

I’ve been running around all day singing every JayZ and Beyonce song known to man to get ready for the concert and boy had my brother, cousin and best friend thought I lost my mind. I assured them I was fine, just drunk in love with the Carters ( you see what I did there *wink*). Anyway, on to the outfit, this look was created to capture the essence of the girl who is glamorous and a bit edgy. I started with the dress as the base of the outfit, then chose a shoe that was neutral in coloring but glam and edgy in design. The white python texture and gold hardware of the shoe really make the dress pop, next I picked out accessories. The accessories needed to make a statement without clashing with the dress so I opted for large stud style earrings ( my fave) and a bolder necklace.  The leather jacket helped to edge the outfit up and is great for a summer night concert because it’s lightweight. My hair, my hair, my hair is straightened ( if you want a separate post on that let me know), so I did a curly mohawk for a hairstyle balanced between edgy and glam. I hope this helps with what to wear to any summer concerts you may be attending and as always tell me your thoughts in the comments. To see the first two looks in this lookbook see here and here.

P.S My makeup is soft glam neutral, I have a review on my new fave makeup product coming up ( so goooo SUBSCRIBE/ FOLLOW the blog asap)

P.s.s Thanks to my best friend for shooting these photos
