Basics for Every Wardrobe

Everyone should have what I call a “Wardrobe Foundation”. This is compiled of the basics and essentials in your preferred color palette. It will vary from person to person but will ultimately make it easier for you to dress chic, define your personal style and feel confident in what you’re wearing. If you’re like ” But, Layyy I’m not sure where to start…” I got you! You can check out what my foundation looks like my checking out the below pieces. There will be a follow-up to building your ultimate wardrobe in the weeks to come. In the meantime, I hope these pieces alleviate the Monday blues.

The things I had to do to get this sweater, man oh man, pretty much had to go into full stalker mode. You know that mode when you’re glued to your computer  at all odd hours of the night, eyes bloodshot and sleep is something you use to know determined to find that coveted item? Hmm may be that’s just me but when I want something, I want it. Enter le sweater. The jacquard pattern of the sweater is the cool way to wear the classic black & white color combo. The pattern is enough of a statement that you can stick to the basics for the rest of your look. Creating an outfit around a statement piece whether it be a bag, a great shoe or intricate sweater is my signature ( or curating a great all white, look see here and here). Therefore, all black everything else was the way to go. Can I please tell yall about my obsession with bucket bags and stylish backpacks?! It’s bad ! I really the love beading on this one from Mango, it brings an easy laid back yet chic feel to the look. A little sprinkle of jewels and sexy heel tie it all together as I headed out the door. Thoughts? Leave ’em in a comment. Until next time,

An Ode to Summer

 Sweater : Express | Pants & Hat : H&M | Shoes: French Connection

It’s been a sad few days over in New England because summer is definitely over. Therefore, I took a moment to bid farewell to my favorite season this weekend in an all black ensemble. I couldn’t go completely black so I threw on my favorite pair of heels from this summer to bring in some color. I do adore fall weather as well and am excited to wear fall fashion but I’m not so thrilled by the drop in temperature. I have a few things in store for the fall season, so stay tuned. Thanks for reading !

Retail Hotspot : French Connection

I am constantly getting asked where I shop ? Or how I choose pieces or what I look for in that perfect statement piece or a dozen other questions related to my style. I wanted to find a way to incorporate the answers to these questions into the blog that would be beneficial to you guys. Therefore, I decided to pick a retailer/designer I am loving at the moment and show you what my picks would be from their latest collections. I hope by sharing how I shop these stores and how I style myself in my outfit posts that it’ll empower you to develop your own personal style or inspire you to try something outside your comfort zone. July has come to an end and I wanted to share one more outfit with you all. I love this time of year because it’s leo season and my birthday is coming up soon (yippe !) . I love birthdays and I will definitely be sharing the looks I rock while celebrating this upcoming weekend. Now on to this outfit, it was a bit breezy in my city this past week and I needed an outfit that catered to the weird “summer” weather we were having. I opted for boyfriend jeans and my custom “selfie” tee to create a nice, easygoing casual look.  Since, I love bringing in a little glam and edge in my looks I chose these bold heels ( which are on sale now) and layered on my fave jacket at the moment to complete the look.  I hope you all enjoy and leave a comment telling me your favorite time of year.

Simple, fun and colorful. The perfect combo for a summer brunch.

I created this outfit for the woman who wants something stylish yet simple for a fun summer day out in the city. I love mixing bright colors together and the perfect shade can make the skin look vibrant and glowy. I love to keep my accessories simple that aren’t to flashy which is why I adore this body chain and opted for it over a necklace.  I opted for a neutral shoe and soft waves for my hair  to complete this look. As always, I’d love to hear from you all in the comments !

Pink & Pearl

This is the second look of two on how I style my crop tops, you can check out the first one here.  Crop tops can be so fun to style because of their versatility, the one I’m wearing here is great for creating a more dressy yet effortless look because of the soft coloring. I opted to pair it with a skirt, to add some flavor to an old combo I chose a white embossed texture skirt. I really wanted to feel girly, playful and chic which is why these powder pink heels and white headband perfect to complete the look. Let me know your fave trend to wear and if you like seeing outfits based on styling trends.

This is the second look in the “On The Run Tour” Lookbook , checkout the first look here.

I’ve been a bit print obsessed lately and wanted to create a look for the girl who loves prints and colors. This outfit is perfect for an outdoor concert because it’s fun and flirty. I love the ruffle styled front and crossed spaghetti straps on this crop top because it added movement and texture to the look. These pants are just perfect for summer because of their breathable material, bold design and comfortable fit. When you wear patterns there are a number of different ways you can style them, you can go for the over the top look ,you can make the pattern the statement piece or somewhere in between the two. For this particular look, I did the somewhere in between by pairing my cobalt blue heels to play up the blue in the pants and adding a white blazer. You could also swap out the heels for a black pair of flats/sandals to keep the pants the center of attention, the decision is all yours. So, don’t be afraid to try out bolder prints and colors, a summer concert is the perfect setting to try them out! As always, thanks for reading !

P.S. Thank you to my friend and founder, Candice for being one of my photographers for this look

The heels I’m wearing are sold out but I linked another heel I would totally rock with these pants as well. Happy Shopping !

Neon hot pink and big hair, ummm can you say match made in heaven or at least in my head ! In case you haven’t heard pink is in this spring/summer season, although it’s never out of style in my book. I love pairing different shades of pink, it is my favorite way to wear the color. Of course, I had to balance the look with a warm chocolate brown jacket and scarf. This was a fun and bright combo I wore to spice up a gloomy spring day as I ran errands. Let me know how you like to style the color pink in the comments below ! Enjoy and inspire love 🙂
