Why I Love Being Curious + A Casual Fall Look

All my life I’ve always been naturally curious. It’s one reason I used to love going on car rides with my parents as a child. I’d be fascinated by all the scenarios taking place outside my window. And I just observe in silence. Eventually, all that observing led to many questions and I’d bombard my mom and dad with them.

The first time we ever drove to New York as a family was an eye opening experience for me. I was enthralled by all the different communities from the suburban hills, to the lakes, bridges, buildings to the corner stores. It’s what sparked my interest in culture, art and history. I wanted to know what shaped communities, languages and the origin of all the different music we’d hear driving down a street in Brooklyn. I also wanted to know why New Yorkers drove so crazy but that question wouldn’t cross my mind until years later.

Today, I’m still just as curious. Which is why I love walking around my neighborhood and discovering new details. One which happens to be this stone pillar just chilling in the middle of a parking lot. Which we couldn’t resist shooting in front of because it contrasted with my outfit pretty nicely. I also find people tend to stop and watch when we’re shooting photos. A lot of times they ask questions and we’ll just have a conversation. It’s just nice. Nice to learn about the people who make up our community while I’m doing something I love.  Because as I got older I learned that it’s the people who shape the communities.

In the City

in the city

Hey there ! I can’t believe it’s already halfway thru August! The summer really is just flying by. I went into the heart of Boston this weekend with my brother and was excited because we found parking to be able to take these shots. Shooting in the city is always tough because there are tons of people around and street parking can be tough. However, luck was on our side that day and I was excited to shoot this look. I love denim shorts but they can be tricky when you want to semi dress them up but I find a blazer always does the trick. It’s still been very hot in Boston so I have been loving to wear my hair in braids and buns lately. These shorts are out of stock but as always I picked out a few similar options below. Happy Tuesday !

The things I had to do to get this sweater, man oh man, pretty much had to go into full stalker mode. You know that mode when you’re glued to your computer  at all odd hours of the night, eyes bloodshot and sleep is something you use to know determined to find that coveted item? Hmm may be that’s just me but when I want something, I want it. Enter le sweater. The jacquard pattern of the sweater is the cool way to wear the classic black & white color combo. The pattern is enough of a statement that you can stick to the basics for the rest of your look. Creating an outfit around a statement piece whether it be a bag, a great shoe or intricate sweater is my signature ( or curating a great all white, look see here and here). Therefore, all black everything else was the way to go. Can I please tell yall about my obsession with bucket bags and stylish backpacks?! It’s bad ! I really the love beading on this one from Mango, it brings an easy laid back yet chic feel to the look. A little sprinkle of jewels and sexy heel tie it all together as I headed out the door. Thoughts? Leave ’em in a comment. Until next time,
