Why I Love Being Curious + A Casual Fall Look

All my life I’ve always been naturally curious. It’s one reason I used to love going on car rides with my parents as a child. I’d be fascinated by all the scenarios taking place outside my window. And I just observe in silence. Eventually, all that observing led to many questions and I’d bombard my mom and dad with them.

The first time we ever drove to New York as a family was an eye opening experience for me. I was enthralled by all the different communities from the suburban hills, to the lakes, bridges, buildings to the corner stores. It’s what sparked my interest in culture, art and history. I wanted to know what shaped communities, languages and the origin of all the different music we’d hear driving down a street in Brooklyn. I also wanted to know why New Yorkers drove so crazy but that question wouldn’t cross my mind until years later.

Today, I’m still just as curious. Which is why I love walking around my neighborhood and discovering new details. One which happens to be this stone pillar just chilling in the middle of a parking lot. Which we couldn’t resist shooting in front of because it contrasted with my outfit pretty nicely. I also find people tend to stop and watch when we’re shooting photos. A lot of times they ask questions and we’ll just have a conversation. It’s just nice. Nice to learn about the people who make up our community while I’m doing something I love.  Because as I got older I learned that it’s the people who shape the communities.

3 Tips for Making your Wardrobe Meet your Lifestyle

3 Tips to make your Wardrobe meet your lifestyle

It’s Sunday! Sundays are the beginning of the week for me. It is the day that I run errands, work on new blog posts, get brunch with friends and plan for the rest of my week. All in all, it’s a pretty busy today. I wanted to give you all some tips on how to make your wardrobe meet your lifestyle. I believe that is the key to being able to put your best style forward.

3 Tips for Making your Wardrobe Meet your Lifestyle

1. Find Pieces that Function Well for you

This is really crucial if you want to get a lot of wear out of your items. If your clothing doesn’t fit well, you won’t want to wear it. If it doesn’t make sense for your day to day, you won’t be able to wear it. Think about what you need. If you work a corporate office job, you’d want a ton of versatile pieces that are business casual friendly. If you’re a stay at home mom with a newborn, you want fabrics that won’t stain easily. I suggest making a list of what your average day looks like and then go through the pieces in your closet. If the item doesn’t fit your daily needs, donate and replace.

2. Choose your level of comfort

You know that old saying “Look good, feel good”? It goes both ways. Don’t force yourself to wear heels, if you hate them just because you think they look better. There are soo many cute flats, booties, sneakers in the world. If you’re like Lay, I just want to live my life in sweatpants! My advice is to go ahead but just step it up a notch. Put away the sweats you’ve had since high school and opt for some joggers or these or these. Athleisure is in these days. My point is being authentic to yourself doesn’t mean forgoing your fashion sense.

3. Create your color palette

Picking a few colors that you love and work well together makes life easier. It will help guide your purchases and make getting ready super easy. Of course, you don’t have to stick just to these colors but having a healthy abundance of tans, yellows or navy will make your wardrobe cohesive.

3 Tips to make your Wardrobe meet your lifestyle

I hope this helps if you struggle with impulsive shopping or buying items that don’t work with your current wardrobe. It’s always good to step back and evaluate from time to time, it’s great for your sanity and bank account! Scroll down for my outfit details 🙂

How to Wear Fall’s Hottest Trend

Fall is officially upon us! Therefore, it’s only right that I show you how to wear fall’s hottest trend. Well at least in my humble opinion. The look to be on trend this season is all suede everything and more specifically, the suede skirt. I have always loved suede from boots, to skirts to jackets to bags but this season has really out done itself. One of my favorite ways to wear suede is balanced out with neutral or white pieces, since it has such a rich color and texture. I like to let it be center stage. To get my look is ultra easy. First, find the perfect suede skirt (shop my picks below). Second, pick a neutral top. When picking the top look for an interesting element like a high neck or open back ( like my top) or a flounce sleeve so  it adds a bit of flair to your look while perfectly complementing your skirt. Next, choose a shoe that is either the same color or a complimentary color to your skirt. Last step is to accessorize! I tend to lean towards minimal accessories so this wooden bracelet was the perfect finishing touch. Let me know if you all would like me to do more looks featuring this year’s fall trends!

L’été. Summer, I love you. I love everything about you.  I may be one of the few people still holding on to you for dear life not wanting you to go. I am determined to soak up every last second of your precious being. It may sound a bit dramatic but seriously all the people complaining now better be whistling Christmas carols come winter. Meanwhile, I’ll be daydreaming of wearing big floppy hats and crop tops. Seriously, can’t believe I went almost the whole summer without wearing hats! I had to dig this old favorite out of my closet paired with two of my fave pieces I picked up from NastyGal this summer, it was an easy and chic look.  Make sure you all enjoy the last month of summer, the leather jackets can wait!

Seriously, can’t believe I went almost the whole summer without wearing hats! I had to dig this old favorite out of my closet paired with two of my fave pieces I picked up from NastyGal this summer, it was an easy and chic look.  Playing with texture and patterns are great when the base of the look is just a white top with blue jeans. These little cheetahs inspired heels by Kenneth Cole were perfect to tie in with the warmer tones of my hat.

Make sure you all enjoy the last month of summer, the leather jackets can wait!

Denim & Cream

denim springspring denimmango cream sweater

Spring denim outfitspring denimmango cream sweater DSCN1161This look has all the things I love: great pair of heels, creamy comfy sweater, big hair, a red lip and of course denim. Mmmmmmmmm I love denim ! When I discovered jeans it was love at first sight and I never looked back. Honestly, the amount of jeans I own is astounding but so neccessary. They are the perfect item that can be worn all year round especially if you live in the Northeast. I hope this look inspires some ideas for how to do a casual denim look for spring. Until next time…
