Transitioning into Fall with the Leather Mini Skirt

Transitioning into Fall
Transitioning into Fall

There are only a few weeks lefts of summer. Fall is quickly coming upon us and I wanted to share a look for transitioning into fall fashion. I love a good leather faux mini skirt and I’m sure you know this by now. Apparently, I must give thanks to designer, Mary Quant, as she is credited with inventing the mini skirt.

It’s a great piece to wear for the end of summer while still bringing in the fall vibes. I think it’s the leather. Fall = leather in my book. This skirt by Leith is great because of the texture detailing. It adds a cool, edgy vibe while being great for summer and fall. I love the soft material and the high waist line which is unique for a mini skirt.

A black and white combo is always a favorite. To keep it refreshing I chose a white top that has flowy open sleeves and a fun detailed open back. If you love a certain look I suggest looking for unique, quirky or statement details in the pieces you’re pairing together. This way it keeps things feeling fresh. I love transitioning into fall with color as well. My Dolce and Gabbana bag has been my favorite lately, it’s just the perfect amount of fun color. It’s one of those colors I believe work year round and is perfect for transitioning into different seasons.

The leather mini works so well with many different styles of shoes. You can pair it like I did with stilettos, with a pair of slides, or booties. It’s definitely a piece you can wear well into October.

Ugh. Can’t believe I’m even thinking about October. I love fall but I’m not a fan of the steady temperature decline. I’m a summer baby, can’t help it. Let me know if what you’d like to see more of on the blog this fall in the comments.

Classic Stripes | Everyday Summer Look

Stripes are classic and I love wearing then in the summer.  Wearing stripes always make my outfits look really clean, put together and relaxed.

My brother and I were going to the park for a walk and ice cream. Therefore, my main goal was to be comfortable in this summer heat. This striped shirt from Zara was perfect, I tied the bottom and rolled up the sleeves to keep it relaxed and breezy. The shorts I paired it with has an unfinished hem which I love and adds to the relaxed vibe.

I want to take a moment to gush over my shoes. These Marc Fisher shoes have been a favorite in my closet for June because I love how easy they are to dress up or down. Not to mention they become more comfortable every time I wear them. Unfortunately, these loafers are currently sold out.  However, the new summer line is great and worth checking out.

Easy, Breezy Blue

white and blue stripes

Hey loves! Let’s get the elephant out of the room? I’ve been quite MIA this month because I was vacationing and I really needed to relax. I spent some time in Washington D.C and on Martha’s Vineyard which is just beautiful. If you’ve never been to the Vineyard, I highly recommend it and there will be more on that trip next week.

For today, it is all about this easy, breezy blue look I wore in D.C for my birthday trip. Y’all, I really love how this outfit turned out but it was not my original plan. Typically, when I know I’m going on a trip I always plan. It doesn’t matter if I’ll be there two days or 14 days. I thoroughly plan out my outfits in advance. It just ensures my trip will not be stressful because I didn’t properly prepare unless everything goes wrong. I initially ordered pieces from Topshop for day outfits but in true Topshop fashion, my package wasn’t due to be delivered until the day I was leaving. That is literally the only pet peeve I have with Topshop is that their processing and shipping is not fast enough.

Anyway, this realization came on the eve of my departure which left me with quite the wardrobe dilemma. The good thing is I know how to shop strategically and have a photographic memory of all the pieces in my closet (not even kidding). I went out and hit some of my favorite shops. The first being Zara where I scored this super chic white skirt. Then I hit up an old favorite, Urban Outfitters because I was picking up some pieces on hold for my brother ( hashtag big sister problems). While in Urban my little eye spied this super cute bralette which is amazingly comfortable, like get you one asap. Both these pieces integrated seamlessly with items I already owned like my suede Steve Madden heels and Soko Lariat necklace.

All in all I had a great trip with my best friends. I looked and felt great even in that D.C. heat, it was literally baking down there.

Wearing blue stripes creates a chic summer look that oozes a fresh and calm energy. If you’re struggling with what to wear to work this summer I suggest hitting up Zara. They have great pieces that work well in the office and versatile enough to work in multiple settings outside it.

You know I love a little glam. Even in the midst of the blue stripes and crisp white, I slipped in this gold necklace. The necklace paired so well with its sleek shape and gold slightly matte finish.

3 Tips to Slay the Off the Shoulder Trend

off the shoulder trend, blogger style, zara

Hey, guys! I wanted to share with you the latest trend I tried out. I love the idea of showing off the shoulders and neck. It’s a subtle way to show skin and feel sexy. I thought I’d give you all 3 tips to slay the off the shoulder trend. Well at least my take on it because there are endless ways to pull it off. Keep reading for my tips and as always I’ve linked all my outfit details.

3 Tips To Slay the Off the Shoulder Trend

1)  Let your shoulders be the star.

Pull your hair back. Skip the necklace and grab a pair of statement earrings. I really do think going without the necklace gives the chicest and effortless look. However, if you’re like Lay I need to wear a necklace! Go ahead! There aren’t any rules but might I suggest doing a choker or a minimalistic necklace that falls perfectly at your collar bone.

DSC_03272) Create balance and shape. It’s easy to lose the natural curves of your body when wearing flowy pieces.

If you choose a top like mine that is loose and flowy; go with a bottom with a bit more structure just to create some definition in your curves. This doesn’t mean it has to be super tight! If you choose a more fitted top, go flowy on the bottom. It’s that easy, I swear.  Unless you opt for a dress then you’ll have to modify this tip with a bit more creativity or not at all.

3) Play with color, texture and/or prints.

This is my favorite thing to tell you guys because clothes are a work of art. So express yo self! Seriously, don’t be afraid to add some spark to your look by layering colors, texture or both. It doesn’t have to be dramatic; it could just be working with different hues of the same color like I did.

Classic Twist

untitled-1untitled-3untitled-5untitled-4untitled-6untitled-8untitled-10

Hi, ya’ll ! Now y’all know I have epic romances with pieces in my closet. When I saw this chunky cream sweater I knew it was meant to be. There was no question that I was shelling out those dollars bills for it. Denim is always a staple in my outfits and as of late I’ve been obsessed with this pair from Zara. Speaking of things I’m obsessing over is the color combo black and cream. I know it’s not reinventing the wheel but it’s super chic and a nice switch from the classic black and white. A small change can be so impactful in spicing up your style. Drop me a comment to let me know some ways you are switching up your style for fall. Until next time…
